Elche vs Real Betis prediction, tactics and match preview
Our Elche vs Real Betis prediction looks ahead to Sunday’s La Liga Matchday 12 fixture at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. Kickoff is scheduled for 13:00 GMT on November 8, 2026, or 14:00 local time, with both teams approaching the game from very different positions.
Team form, tactics and selection news
Elche enter the weekend close to the relegation places, reportedly sitting 17th or 18th with seven points from nine matches. Martín Anselmi’s team have struggled for consistency and recently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Valencia. Their home form is also a concern, although strong goalkeeping performances have helped them remain competitive.
Anselmi prefers brave, possession-based football and believes keeping the ball is an effective form of defending. That plan will be tested by a serious midfield shortage. Marc Aguado is expected to miss the rest of 2026 with an ankle ligament injury, while Thomas Lemar is practically ruled out. Gonzalo Villar remains doubtful after a training knock, and Yago de Santiago must be managed carefully because of knee trouble.
Facundo Buonanotte could therefore receive greater creative responsibility in a 4-3-3 formation. Matías Dituro should start in goal after earning considerable praise, with Buba Sangaré, Federico Redondo, Víctor Chust and Roy Revivo possible defensive choices. Lucas Cepeda, Germán Valera and Fer Niño may lead the attack.
Real Betis arrive in much better league shape. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are fourth with 19 points and firmly involved in the Champions League qualification race. They recently defeated Málaga 2-1 in an Andalusian derby before losing 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund in Europe, where their performance was stronger than the result suggests.
Pellegrini may rotate after that demanding midweek game, but his probable 4-2-3-1 should still contain plenty of quality. Facundo Bernal is suspended, while Cucho Hernández and Junior Firpo are unavailable. Antony has recovered from illness and could join Isco and Abde Ezzalzouli behind Troy Parrott. Fran García is expected at left-back, with Marc Roca and Pablo Fornals providing balance in midfield.
