Parma vs Genoa prediction for a tense Tardini test
Our Parma vs Genoa Prediction points toward a narrow away result when the teams meet at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Kick-off is at 14:00 GMT, or 15:00 local time, and both sides arrive badly needing their first Serie A victory of the season.
Two teams searching for an early escape route
After four league matches, Parma and Genoa have collected only one point each. Both have drawn once and lost three times, so this already feels more serious than a normal September fixture. Nobody is being relegated in autumn, of course, but managers rarely enjoy hearing that reassurance from worried supporters.
Carlos Cuesta’s Parma opened with a 1-0 defeat against Cagliari before losing 2-0 to Juventus. Simone Lontani then scored in a 1-1 draw with Monza, but the improvement did not last. Parma were beaten 2-1 at Como, where David Romero’s late goal offered consolation rather than points.
The main concern is their attack. Parma can have useful spells with the ball, yet possession too often becomes safe passing without enough pressure near the penalty area. Cuesta, the young Spanish coach who previously worked under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, needs his side to move the ball forward faster and provide better support around the striker.
His options are also affected by injuries. Hans Nicolussi Caviglia is expected to need surgery for a sports hernia, while Benjamín Cremaschi is sidelined by a meniscus problem. Backup goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara is doubtful. More positively, Adrián Bernabé has returned, and Matija Frigan is back in the squad following a long ACL recovery.
Genoa’s journey has been just as uncomfortable. Daniele De Rossi’s team lost 2-0 to Napoli, 1-0 to Lazio and 4-1 to newly promoted Como. A 1-1 draw with Frosinone finally stopped the losing run, with captain Johan Vásquez scoring the equaliser.
De Rossi steadied Genoa after taking charge last season, but a defence that has conceded eight times in four games now requires attention. We expect a more cautious shape at the Tardini, with Genoa protecting central areas before using their extra pace and numbers on transitions. That may not produce fireworks, but fireworks are not included in the points table.
